SMT stands for Surface Mount Technology. It is a method of electronic component assembly where components are mounted directly onto the surface of a printed circuit board (PCB) instead of being inserted through holes. This allows for smaller and more compact electronic devices. SMT components are typically smaller and lighter than their through-hole counterparts and are soldered onto the PCB using solder paste and a reflow oven.
